Deck Department

The Deck Department consists of nine people, one Chief Boatswain (CB), two Lead Fishermen (LF), two Skilled Fisherman (SF), three Fishermen (F), and one Able-Bodied Seaman (AB). They are responsible for the operation of deck machinery used to fish, deploying instruments, handling cargo, anchoring and mooring the ship. The department also maintains the ship's external structure, rigging, boats, weather decks, and interior spaces except the engine room and deploys, maintains and repairs scientific trawl nets.
