Our ET is responsible for all electronic equipment, including navigation systems, network system, communications including e-mail, and most importantly our entertainment system!!

Electronics Technician - Charlie Goertzen, Hometown: Port Orchard, Wa

Has been on the McArthur II since March 2008

Charlie Goertzen spent 3 ½ yrs. as a Physics major, ran out of money and ended up spending 20 yrs. in the Navy. Went back to school and studied Electronics until being offered a position as an Electronics Technician maintaining trainers at Trident Training Facility at SubBase Bangor, WA. Joined NOAA and the McArthur II in March 2008. Plans to someday take English 101 and get his degree.

Electronics Technician - Dave Gray, Hometown: Hillsboro, OR

Has been on the McArthur II since February 2009

Dave has been married for over 30 years, has 3 kids and 1 Grandchild. Dave has an engineering degree and has worked in various industries including aerospace, electronic design automation, and traffic safety. Dave took the summer of 2006 off from high tech to be a tour guide in Juneau Alaska. Dave has a Black Belt in Taekwondo, is interested in Model Railroading and volunteers with the Civil Air Patrol.
