Henry Lacey O’Neal, known as Lacey by his family, co-workers and dear friends, passed away on January 8, 2010.

Although Lacey called Olympia, WA home, he spent most of the last 12 years of his life at sea on borad the McArthur and McArthur II. Lacey began his service with NOAA as a Seaman, but was rapidly promoted to Senior Survey Technician. On the ship Lacey was an excellent survey tech, an avid cribbage player, a photographer, and a good friend. One of the photos he took during his time on McArthur II was even featured in a poster for the Smithsonian.

Before joining NOAA, Lacey was a US Army Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. He retired as a Staff Sergeant in July 1998.
