DECK OFFICERS


XO

Executive Officer- LCDR Daniel Simon, Hometown: Reading, Pennsylvania

Been on Nancy Foster since, February 2008.

LCDR Simon previously served on the Miller Freeman. He joins the Nancy Foster after a short shore assignment at Marine Operations Center - Pacific as Operations Manager. Between the Marine Center and the Miller Freeman, LCDR Simon spent three years with the Global Monitoring Division of NOAA's Earth System Research Laboratory working as Station Chief of various observatories around the world.

LCDR Simon holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Ursinus College and a Master of Science in Environmental Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.

OPS

Operations Officer- LT Abigail Higgins

LT Higgins previously served on the NOAA Ships Rainier and Fairweather in the Pacific Northwest. She has worked ashore at the Pacific Hydrographic Branch in Seattle and the Coast Survey Development Lab in Silver Spring.

LT Higgins holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Virginia, and a Master of Business Administration from City University of Seattle.

Junior Officer - ENS Carmen M. Alex, Hometown: Key Largo, FL

Been on Nancy Foster since, September 2009.

ENS Alex, graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a BS in Geophysics and from UC Santa Cruz with an MS in Earth Science. She joins the Nancy Foster after working at NOAA AOML in Miami, FL. ENS Alex is an avid diver and nature photographer and is very excited to explore the Gulf, Caribbean and coastal Atlantic after spending her college days surveying the Pacific.

Junior Officer - ENS Kevin Adams, Hometown: Seattle, WA

Been on Nancy Foster since, June 2008

ENS Adams recently graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Aquatic and Fishery Sciences.  While working for NOAA Fisheries Enforcement in Seattle, WA he developed a keen interest in the National Marine Sanctuaries and Diving program. ENS Adams is enthusiastic to be a part of the Nancy Foster and the variety of missions she supports.

Mate in Training - Jodie Edmnond, Hometown: Hometown: Portland, Oregon

Mate in training Edmond joins the Nancy Foster after being selected for the new AB to Mate program through OMAO to obtain her 1600 ton Near Coastal Mate/500ton Near Coastal Master license. Jodie joined NOAA as a wage mariner in April 2005 and has spent most of the last 4 years working as an Able Bodied Seawoman onboard the NOAA Ship Rainier working mostly in Coastal Alaskan waters. She is looking forward to working as a Deck Officer on the Nancy Foster and all the new experiences to be had in a new part of the country.
