Senior Survey Technician - Kathryn Hough, Hometown: Kodiak, AK
Kathy, originally from the east coast, obtained a Bachelors degree in Ecology and has conducted marine research on the west coast since 1995. She has worked for NOAA in federal and contract positions since 1998, and has sailed on five NOAA ships as a scientist and/or survey technician. Four years at-sea on NOAA and commercial vessels have taken her from Panama up to the Arctic Circle, out the Aleutian Island Chain, to Hawaii, the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean, and the Gulf of Maine. She loves being on the water! Kodiak, Alaska has been her home (well, her cat's home because she is always at-sea!) since 2001.
