Medical Officer - LCDR Vanessa Hadley, Hometown: Chicago, IL
LCDR Hadley is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and a
Commissioned Officer with U.S. Public Health Service assigned to the
NOAA as a Medical Officer—she is very proud to call the Okeanos
Explorer her duty station and home away from home. Vanessa spent years
in the US Army as enlisted in the Quarter Master Corps and her last
five as a Commissioned Officer in the Nurse Corps. She attended George
Mason University for a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing on an
active duty scholarship and attended graduate school at UCLA where she
received a Master of Science Degree in Nursing. Vanessa has worked for
the VA as a Provider at an out- patient facility in Daytona Beach, FL
and in the remote regions of Bethel & Barrow, Alaska where she had the
privilege of teaching and working with medical providers in the Alaska
Community Health Aide Program (CHAP). In the near future, Vanessa
will be working on a PhD in Nursing in the field of remote medicine.
Vanessa is always game to do something fun and unique! Her family
