OFFICERS


CO

Commanding Officer- LCDR Ricardo Ramos, Hometown: Klamath Falls , OR

Been on Oregon II since, June 2006.

This is LCDR Ramos' first Command and third sea assignment. He previously served aboard FERREL as Executive Officer and served aboard RAINIER. Shore assignments include working as Deputy Chief of MOC-A Operations, Hydrographic Database Manager, South Pole Station Chief, and Atlantic Hydrographic Party.

LCDR Ramos holds a Master's degree in Business Administration and Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics Engineering Technology. He resides in Chesapeake , VA with his wife and two children.

XO

Executive Officer- David Nelson, Hometown: Pascagoula , MS

Been on Oregon IIsince, January 4, 1993.

First Officer Nelson started on the Oregon II 14 years ago. He started by working deck and over the years has worked his way to the XO position. Prior to coming to NOAA 1/O Nelson worked on everything from shrimp boats, to tugs and Rig boats. He currently holds an AB Unlimited card, 1600 Ton Mates License Near Shore, and a 100 Ton Masters License, Full STCW 95 Compliance. In the past he has augmented on several NOAA vessels. Ships include, Ron Brown, Albatross, Gordon Gunter, Ferrell, and the Whiting. When asked what he likes to do for fun during this series of questions his response was; ”Now the good stuff. I Like Saints Football, don't like people that don't like Saints football. I like to play Blackjack at the Casinos for fun. Love to go bowling. I will love to hunt and fish as soon as my 30yrs. with NOAA is over.”

OPS OFF

Operations Officer- ENS Justin Keesee, Hometown: Long Beach , CA

Been on Oregon II since, June 2006 .

Before joining NOAA Corps, ENS Keesee worked for 5 years as a Fisheries Observer in the Alaskan Groundfish Fisheries. He graduated from Florida Institute of Technology (Class of 2001) with a B.S. in Marine Biology.

NAV OFF

Navigation Officer- ENS Raul Vasquez Del Mercado, Hometown: Santa Barbara , CA

Been on Oregon II since, November 18, 2005 .

Prior to joining NOAA Corps ENS Vasquez graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. When not working he finds time to enjoy scuba diving, kayaking, surfing, martial arts, running, weight lifting, camping, hiking and just being outdoors

JUNIOR OFF

Junior Officer- ENS Colin Kliewer, Hometown:

Been on Oregon II since, December 2006.

ENS Kliewer has a Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Biology and a Master’s Degree in Natural Resource Development from Texas A&M University . He enjoys technical scuba diving when time permits. Before joining NOAA, he interned with the National Park Service’s Water Resources Division in Colorado . He has also previously worked as an aquarium biologist and as a diver on the excavation of a Civil War shipwreck near Galveston , TX.
