Bridge Operations

Rainier is at sea approximately 180 to 200 days per year.  The bridge team consists of safe and prudent officers and deck department members while transiting and conducting hydrographic survey operations.  A typical navigational watch is manned by an Officer of the Deck (OOD), Junior Officer of the Deck (JOOD), helmsman, and lookout.  At anchor, an officer or deck department member stands anchor watch on the bridge to ensure the anchor is not dragging and the ship is safe at all times.
