NOAA Ship RONALD H. BROWN

Deck Department

The Deck Department, with eight people, have the most diverse jobs aboard this ship. They operate the many cranes and winches which load everything we require for a cruise, from food stores to scientific gear. They are responsible for the rigging and deployment of scientific equipment such as surface and subsurface floats. They operate and man our work and rescue boats. And most importantly they are responsible for tying the ship up at the end of the cruise.
